Pudlalik Shaa

Date of Birth: 1965
Residence: Cape Dorset
Pudlalik started carving at the age of twelve by watching his father, famous Inuit artist Axangajuk Shaa carve.  Pudlalik has support himself through his art since he was 17 years old. He usually carves small to medium sized pieces. Many of his birds and transformation figures (which are composites of different animals, combined with a human face or figure) are finely balanced on one leg. He achieves a fluidity of form that demonstrates his fine skill as a carver.
