Pitseolak is the son of the great sculptor and graphic artist Niviaksiak and the graphic artist Kunu. Likely influenced by his older brother Qiatsuq, Pitseolak has also trained as a printmaker. Pitseolak is a versatile artist and regularly creates a wide range of subjects: from representations of wildlife, particularly birds, to family carvings that often represent his wife and children, and depictions of the sea goddess Sedna.
