Noo Atsiaq

Date of Birth: 1986-2013, born in Iqualuit (Frobisher Bay)
Noo had been carving since he was between the ages of 9 and 11. He was initially taught by watching carvers in his family, particularly his grand father. Noo’s favorite subject was bears, either dancing, diving or walking. He occasionally carved people and caribou. He was rapidly gaining a reputation for his white marble polar bears, which he started making some three years ago, before his untimely death. Noo has also worked for famed Inuit artist Nuna Parr, by helping him file and sand his bears.
