Andrew Qappik

Qappik is a printmaker whose works are published by the Pangnirtung Print Shop, under the Uqqurmiut Centre for Arts & Crafts. Qappik portrays naturalistic scenes of life in the Arctic, drawn from his own experiences and from stories told to him by relatives. In 1999 he contributed to the design of the flag, coat-of-arms and official logo of the newly-formed Canadian territory of Nunavut. In 2010 a major solo exhibition of Qappik's work was organized at the Winnipeg Art Gallery entitled "Andrew Qappik: Pangnirtung Memories," which was on display from April 29 to August 1, 2010.
